Brisbane Weather & Climate
Brisbane is a subtropical city with a climate that is characterised by bright, sunny days and tranquil, balmy nights. It generally experiences fairly mild and consistent weather year round.
Average temperatures are between a maximum of 29C (84F) and a minimum of 21C (70F) in summer with temperatures cooling down to a maximum of 22C (72F) and a minimum of 10C (50F) in winter.
During the summer months the days can get quite warm; however winter temperatures remain fairly moderate due to the still-sunny weather.
There is really no "bad" time to visit, although locals tend to prefer the spring when the city is in full bloom and the nights are refreshed by a cool breeze.
Seasons in Australia are the reverse of North America and Europe with summer beginning in December, making Christmas Day spent at the beach or by the pool with a cool drink in hand an Australian tradition.
Summer runs through to February, followed by autumn (fall) from March to May, winter June to August, and spring from September to November.
Australia is known for its beaches and Brisbane has access to some of the best, able to be enjoyed year round. Water temperature in summer rests on an inviting 25C (77F) while remaining pleasant during winter at a cool 19C (66F).
Temperature Conversion: For visitors more accustomed to using Fahrenheit for temperatures rather than Celsius, the simplest method for an approximate conversion is to double the Celsius temperature and add 32. Hence, 20 degrees Celsius = (2 x 20) + 32 = 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
While enjoying Brisbane's warm weather and sunny days it is important to use adequate protection against the sun's rays including drinking plenty of water, applying sunscreen regularly and wearing a hat and sunglasses.
